My Captive Journey

Captive Director

Steve Tunstall acts as an independent director of a fully owned captive.
USD 25,000 a year.

Why an independent director

A captive board is often made up of people from the parent group, who are busy with their own roles and may have little time to think about the captive. An independent director has no other link to your group. Their job is to bring outside experience, to question decisions, and to help the captive follow good governance.

Steve works alongside your management team as a business builder, and remains an independent sense test of how new developments and growth ideas are likely to be viewed by the regulator. The seat is for a fully owned captive.

What the role brings

Independent challenge

An experienced outside view on strategy, underwriting, capital and growth ideas, offered from within the board.

A business builder alongside management

Working with your management team on new lines, new risks and growth plans, helping to shape them so that the board and the regulator can follow the reasoning.

A sense test with the regulator in mind

An independent view, before a proposal goes forward, of how a new development or growth idea is likely to play out with the regulator.

Board and governance

Regular attendance and preparation, committee work, and board papers and minutes that stand up to scrutiny.

Practical points

  • USD 25,000 a year.
  • You may add Steve to your own directors and officers cover. We would prefer that, but it is not required.
  • Anything you have already paid for the Readiness Diagnostic & Captive Pack or the Bespoke Captive Package is credited in full.

How to start

Send the enquiry form. Steve replies to you himself to talk through your captive and what you would want from the role.
